Clinical hematology laboratories, which conduct research on 5-DIFF systems, need special control materials to control the analyzer parameters, ensure the reliability and timely correction of the results obtained.
It is recommended that the ABX Difftroll 3-Level Control be measured daily to periodically evaluate the integrability of reagents and instruments, control the quality, accuracy and reproducibility of the analytical process, and prevent the possibility of errors during testing.
ABX Difftrol is a modern approach to ensuring internal laboratory quality control, assessing the accuracy and reproducibility of the results of operation of automatic hematological analyzers 5-DIFF manufactured by HORIBA Medical (ABX Pentra 60 / 60C +; ABX Pentra 80 / XL80; Yumizen H500 .; Yumizen H550; ABX Pentra120 / 120 Retic; ABX Pentra DX120 / DF120; Pentra ES60 / MS60 / MSCRP; Pentra DXNexus / DFNexus; Pentra XLR).
Three levels of quality control of results - with low, normal and high concentration of the analytical material, respectively, ABX Difftrol L, ABX Difftrol N and ABX Difftrol H - guarantee high accuracy of intra-laboratory quality control and ensure the reliability of laboratory studies.
Control samples are stable up to 3 months in a closed state, under storage conditions at a temperature of 2-8°C in an upright position. Do not freeze!

Parameters that are controlled:
- WBC – the number of leukocytes
- RBC – the number of erythrocytes
- HGB – hemoglobin
- HCT – hematocrit
- PLT – platelet count
- MCV – average volume of erythrocytes
- MPV – mean platelet volume
- MCH – average hemoglobin content in one erythrocyte
- MCHC – average concentration of hemoglobin in erythrocytes
- LYM – the number of lymphocytes (absolute and relative value)
- MON – the number of monocytes (absolute and relative value)
- NEUT – the number of neutrophils (absolute and relative value)
- EOS – the number of eosinophils (absolute and relative value)
- BASO – number of basophils (absolute and relative value)
- RDW – erythrocyte distribution width
User's Manual
- 15 minutes before starting work, take a bottle of control material from the refrigerator and warm to room temperature (from 18°C to 30°C)
- Stir the contents of the vial holding it horizontally and swirling in the palms for 20-30 seconds, until the sediment is completely mixed. Do not mix mechanically.
- Invert the vial quickly to make sure the cells are hanging.
- Immediately before measuring, gently invert the bottle 8-15 times.
- Take a direct measurement of the control material.
- After collection, wipe the cap of the vial with non-fibrous gauze and rotate the closed vial in the refrigerator.
Average value and measuring ranges are indicated in the table of expected results (attached to the bottle).
Methodology
The ABX Difftrol control material is stable for assessing the correctness and accuracy of measurements in hematology analyzers. Average and expected measuring ranges were obtained by repeated tests on analyzers calibrated using standard laboratory methods. ABX Difftrol is analyzed on analyzers in the same way as patient blood samples (measured by spectrophotometry). If the analyzer is correctly calibrated, the control material should be within the ranges shown in the table supplied with the vial.
