Prospects for clinical laboratory diagnostics in Ukraine

On April 27, 2023, SANALAB LLC, together with the Feofaniya Clinical Hospital, the Department of Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics of the P.L. Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, and the All-Ukrainian Association of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine held a seminar entitled “Prospects for Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics in Ukraine” in the congress hall of the Feofaniya Hospital.

An important objective of the seminar was to improve the accuracy, timeliness, and reliability of laboratory test results.

• At the seminar, we discussed important issues of laboratory diagnostics in Ukraine, analyzed the existing capacities of medical laboratories, and examined in detail the prospects for their further development.We identified priorities, considered planning, testing, and implementation of the most effective models for providing laboratory services to patients.
• We discussed the possibility of expanding access to quality laboratory diagnostics for the Ukrainian population. We raised the issue of creating a reliable quality assurance and management system for medical laboratories and the use of clinical protocols in the diagnostic process.
• During the event, speakers also shared the experience of medical institutions gained during the COVID-19 pandemic and military operations. 

Among the interesting aspects of the seminar were:

• Laboratory algorithms for assessing male fertility;
• xMAP technology for HLA typing and antibody monitoring;
• Heparin-induced thrombocytopenia;
• Algorithms for diagnosing disorders in the hemostasis system;
• New viscoelasticity-based measurement technology for rapid whole blood coagulation analysis;
• Diagnosis, course, and prognosis of thyroid disease;
• Thromboelastography – a global method for diagnosing the hemostasis system;
• Laboratory process management using the TerraLab LIS, and much more. 

At the end of the event, participants and audience members engaged in a thematic discussion and an interesting debate.
